Chapter 11

Hunter

“I know I already said it, but I need to say it again. I love you so much, Whitley. I’ve loved you before I even knew how I felt about you. You’ve always been mine.” I say and trace my finger down the side of her face and along her chin. She’s absolute perfection, and now that I’ve had her, I can’t get enough. I’m like an addict, the more of her I have, the more of her I need.

“I love you, too. I know it’s fast, but I do.”

“No more doubts, my sweet Whitley. No more listening to what others try and convince you of. Do you hear me?”

“I hear you, Hunter. The only people who matter are us.”

“That’s right, baby.” As much as I don’t want to, I slide out of her. She winces, and I’m glad I didn’t try for a second round right now, or she’d be in pain later.

“Where are you going?” She asks.

“To run you a bath. You need to soak after that to make sure you aren’t sore later.”

She rolls over on her side to face me, and she smirks. “I like your bathtub better. It’s bigger.”

I’m about to give her shit since I offered her my tub last night when she winks at me and bursts into a fit of laughter. She’s busting my balls. “You little brat!” I grab her ankle and pull her toward me, then tickle her relentlessly until tears are streaming down her face from her uncontrollable laughter.

As her laughter dies down, she sits up on her elbows and gives me a soft, happy look. “What’s the plan, Stan?”

“I say we take a quick shower and then go back over to my place so I can cook you dinner, while you have a nice soak in my tub.”

She quirks an eyebrow at me. “You’re going to cook?”

I smile wide and walk to her bathroom to turn on the shower. “Your man went to the grocery store and bought actual food,” I call over my shoulder.

“Did you now? And what kind of food did you buy?” She follows me in and asks.

I’m about to answer her when I see the look on her face. She’s scared. I turn to look and see what has her spooked, but nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. “What’s wrong, baby?”

“The window is open, and I wasn’t the one to open it.”

The little hairs on the back of my neck stand up. “Has anyone else been in your house today?”

She shakes her head, no. “I only left this morning for like a half-hour and then I’ve been here alone ever since.”

“Maybe you’re remembering it wrong. Could you have-”

“No. The same thing happened last night. When I got home, I noticed the curtain moving from the breeze, but it struck me as odd because I didn’t remember opening the window. It’s not like my mom or dad would pop in here and open up my bathroom window, but who else could it have been?”

“Was anything gone or disturbed when you got in here?”

She shakes her head, no.
